Should You Blog, Tweet Or Start an E-Newsletter?

As a designer of e-marketing materials, people will often ask, “should I blog, tweet or start an e-newsletter?” While the question is usually posed as “which one”, I will often answer “Yes” in an attempt to help them re-frame the query. There are valid reasons to start any one of these and in my opinion, often very good reasons to have all three!

First and foremost, you need to be very clear about the message you are trying to share. The mode of transport – and that is all that these choices are, different modes of transport for getting your info out into the world – depends on what, exactly, you want to say and to whom. Are you selling a product to a new customer or disseminating information to establish your expertise? Are you speaking to someone that knows of you and your product or are you introducing yourself? Once you clarify the message and the recipient, it will usually be easier to determine how to share it.

Each mode is best suited for a different type of message with some working well in multiple situations. An e-newsletter gives you the time to introduce yourself and to provide detailed information. It also allows you to define your tone and to post upcoming events. But it is not a good medium for sharing time sensitive information or for last minute reminders. Blog posts are excellent for distributing daily and timely comments, insights and musings but work best when they are sent to someone that already knows you. The same goes for tweets. They are the perfect way to stay on someone’s radar with quick observations, retorts and reminders but only when received by someone that is “following” you. They are not a very good vehicle for introduction and certainly not for explanation.

One client, a financial planner, offers a tremendous amount of timely and valuable financial information and advice each month complete with references, charts and foot notes. This is obviously not a message suited to a blog post or ‘tweet’. His e-newsletter offers the space and time to deliver this information properly. Blog posts are a great way to define your tone and to grow your following. By posting frequently, people get a feel of who you are and over time, you can build a level of trust. This same client might blog about the daily ups and downs in the market as well. It would not necessary conflict with the e-newsletter and, if done well, could certainly support it. And I suppose he could tweet too, though I am not sure if financial advice via tweet is in anyone’s best interests. My point is that these modes are not mutually exclusive.

Sometimes I will hear the question, “I have a blog and I am active on Twitter, do I need an e-newsletter/ e-zine as well?”

I believe that, if you have the stamina – and do not underestimate the amount of time and effort each of these endeavors will require – it is often best to combine all three modes, using e-newsletters to introduce yourself and define your area of expertise, blog posts to build on that expertise and tweets to ensure that you are on your reader’s radar.

Promoting an event is a great opportunity to use the strengths of all three modes. An e-newsletter calendar, posted regularly, makes someone aware of the event and allows them to register and plan to attend. A blog post can then be used to discuss the event and build anticipation followed by a ‘tweet’ to remind them when the date arrives. Working together, in a coordinated timeline, these three tools will increase the likelihood of having your message received and in this case, ensure event attendance.

Pick the format that works best for your message. Or better yet, try all three. This is not an ‘either – or’ proposition. They are all useful tools which should be created and designed to work together to ensure that your message is broadcast and shared.

Automotive Transport – A Guide for Choosing an Auto Shipper

Transporting your car is not something you would just entrust to anybody other than the pros. The safety of your priced possession is in the hands of the auto shippers once you sign that contract and hand them the key to it. With that being said, I’m sure you want to make sure that your car will reach your destination without a scratch. Now choosing an auto shipper you can trust is not easy, after all trust is difficult to come by. You would definitely want to make sure that they know what they are doing and that they would take responsibilities in case something happens to your car. Considering that the automotive transport business is very competitive and that so many auto shippers are sprouting in the scene, your job is becoming a daunting one. In the midst of too many choices, you’d seem lost and unable to make a choice at all. That is exactly the reason why I wrote this guide; I want to help you make that wisest choice in picking an auto shipper by following the tips that I will lay down here.

1. Preparation is the key
As with everything, preparation is the key to a successful automotive transport. The first step is to have your car thoroughly cleaned so that you can account for its present condition. Once the car is cleaned, you can now see clearly all its scratches, dents and dings. It is wise to take pictures of your car rather than just trusting our fickle memories to account for its present condition. Remove everything that can possibly be lost inside your car because you cannot hold auto shippers accountable for it because they are not allowed to transport any personal or household goods.

2. Search for auto shippers online
The good thing about the present technological development is that you can find almost anything online now. You can use Google to find auto shippers and you can even search further on blogs and forums to see if a certain company name has attained the notoriety of a cult in this business. After you have gathered a few names, call each one of them and ask questions about the things that I will lay down below.

3. Ask about payment policies
Ask the auto shippers about payment policies. These can vary between different companies but usually they will ask for a 25% upfront payment and the rest will be payable upon the delivery of your car. Cash is very much welcome so is a cashier’s check. There are companies that will accept credit cards but they will usually charge an extra 2-3% as processing fee with your credit card company.

4. Read the fine prints before signing
Reading the shipping contract is very important because just like when you buy a house or a car, the contract that you will sign is legally binding and if something happens to your car within the course of the trip, the company will always refer to their terms and conditions before they will pay for damages. It pays to know what you are signing up for, so read and understand the contract and if you are not satisfied, ask a lawyer to explain it to you.

5. Ask for delivery dates
Ask for delivery dates but bear in mind that these are but estimates. Don’t expect the auto shipper to be on the dot when they give a date of delivery. To avoid frustrations, it is important to understand that the automotive transport business is dependent on a lot contingencies; like how fast they can fill the truck with cars, how bad is the traffic and the route that they will take in the course of the delivery. A lot things can go wrong along the way so it is very difficult to give a definite date of delivery. However, there is a window of time wherein an auto shipper can still be considered on time when shipping your car. Ask for this window of time and use it as the basis of your waiting period.

6. Inquire about license and insurance certificate
In order to know that you are dealing with a legitimate company and not some fly-by-night business, ask for a license to operate. You want to make sure that you have the protection of pertinent government agencies when something goes wrong with shipping process. In addition to that, you would want to be reimbursed when some damages are incurred in your car. This is not to say that things can really go wrong, but when they do, you would want to be protected.

These are some things that you need to know when you need the services of an automotive transport company. To get a free car shipping quote, visit the website:

Pet Transport While Immigrating!

We always talk about immigration and the various procedures involved in it. And we forget that pets form an important part of our lives. No one ever thought whether transporting pets would involve a separate procedure in itself. Our pets are an important part of our family. So, we would not want to leave them behind while immigrating. This article focuses on the steps involved in transporting our pets to Australia.

When it comes to pets, there are certain restrictions imposed. It is similar with Australia. With this, it might also turn out to be a pretty expensive affair on the pockets. The various steps to be followed include:

The foremost task to be done is to check whether your pet’s breed is permitted into Australia. With this, the age limit to which a pet is permitted to travel. This is because certain breeds such as those of dogs like Japanese Tosa, Pit Bull Terrier and so on are not permitted to enter.
The next important step to be taken is to micro chip the pet. This has to be done prior to applying for a permit to import. This micro chip should be easily read by any reader which is ISO compatible such as that of Destron or Trovan.
This is followed by applying for a permit to import. The permit issued is valid for only six months.
Now, the pet has to be booked to a quarantine station for a particular period of time. Here, it has to be remembered that an import permit cannot guarantee a space in this station. With this, a suitable veterinarian also needs to be found out for the pet. Ensure that the vet selected has been authorized by the local government.
This is followed by the documentation part. All the relevant documents of the pet must be obtained from a laboratory which is recognized by the government. These documents are of utmost importance in transporting the pet. So, it has to be ensured that not even a single document is missed out.
After finishing with the documentation part, book for the pet’s transportation. In Australia, there are only a few specified airports where the entry of pets is permitted. The booking should be under Manifested Cargo in a container that is approved by the IATA. A prior permit should be availed if shipping is required as part of the travel. This permission should be obtained from the authorities of the quarantine in the Trans – shipment country.
The pet should be vaccinated with all the specified vaccinations a night before the departure.
Check whether it is required of the pet to undergo any further tests. For instance, it the pet is a dog, it must undergo tests for canine diseases at least thirty days prior to export.
An inspection for pre – export has to be completed within four days of export. It is mandatory that the pet clears in this process of certification.
After all the necessary procedures have been taken care off, the pet is sealed in a shipping container and is checked in with an airline. The services of animal transport agents could also be used in case the pet cannot travel with the owner. They would ensure the safe passage of the pet.
Post landing in Australia, the pet would be transported to a quarantine station. The cost for this would be managed by the importer. The owner of the pet would have to pay while collecting his pet.

All in all, it is important to be thoroughly informed of the entire procedure so that you don’t end up losing your pet.

Two of the most important factors in your decision as to which one of the auto transport companies you choose, are how much will it cost, and the safety of your car while it’s being transported. Of course, you need to check out how reliable the transport company is. After all, the driver has to bring you your classic, antique or old car to you, safely and on time.

There are many reasons you may want to have your car brought to you over a long distance. Or, sent to another location across the country. If you had vacationed on the East coast, for example, and wandered around the wonderful small towns there, you may have stumbled on an antique car for sale, parked outside of someone’s garage. If you haven’t used a long distance auto transport company before, it could be a bit of a challenge locating something that will work for you. Digging up relevant info off the Web could be as equally as daunting a task. Searching for anything may bring up hundreds of entirely non-relevant websites that have nothing to do with your search. Don’t waste time locating info and getting a quote.

The best way to get the info you need regarding costs and shipping methods for your vehicle, plus references and info on the best performing companies, is to go to a site that will send you quotes from ten American auto shipping companies (unless you are thinking overseas), right into your inbox. This saves so much stress and time, and your patience as well. You could use this time saved for many other things, not the least of which would be browsing through car parts magazines. You could spend the hours looking for quotes, or on daydreaming about what you will do with the classic, antique or old car, once it gets to you. There are several great companies out there that will be happy to get you quotes right away. That’s their business, and their only business.

Take a look at a few of these websites. They should have a customer feedback section, references, perhaps a blog for up to date transportation news and interesting bits, an easy way to contact them, and also they should also offer some info right there on the site, so that you may take an overview before going any further. There is no pressure from the top sites. They know what they are doing and want to keep their customers happy and satisfied when they provide spot-on vehicle transport services.

By using this method of getting all the quotes you’ll need, all at once, comparison shopping is made easy. And you’ll be assured of the best prices and the best value for your hard earned money.

Mining Truck 2: Trolley Transport Walkthrough

Traveling about through underground mines can be very dangerous, unfortunately someone has to do it, I’m just glad it’s not me, I don’t think I would have courage to do what miners have to experience on a daily basis, I give them props for all their hard work and dedication they put in to what they do.

A recent browser game I came across is entirely about mining and transporting goods through the use of Trolley’s. Generally the type of online games I play consist of a bit more action and strategy, but I figured I would give the game a try and tell all you casual games out there what I think of this skeptic yet simple mining flash game.

To begin with you are given some items (good) to transport, wait until the lever completely releases the items. After that you better get a move on, but be careful because just a few bumps and bad key presses could set you off course meaning game over.

Your objective or walkthrough for the game is to complete and transfer the goods without running out of time or making any mistakes. When I first played the game my time was terrible and I nearly lost control of the Trolley, this game requires the right amount of timing, accuracy and skill in order to achieve a high score. My advice is to move slow through the first few levels seeing that there should be plenty of time to complete the course, as you progress try to move just a bit faster, this should definitely do the trick for you.

As far as an online browser game goes the concept isn’t bad even though there are a few other games out there similar to it such as the Coal Express gaming series. I think many casual gamers out there like transporting games, especially if they have upgrades and other achievements/badges to earn. There are a few bugs I found in the game, but nothing major unless your a bit picky when it comes to flash programming and design, I would have to rate this game 8/10 seeing that it isn’t completely original, but if you liked the Coal Express series you will definitely enjoy the transporting trolleys back and forth.

How Does Automatic Transmission Change Gears

As drivers, we know how the transmission works: we push the clutch in, change the gear and then continue driving normally. Manual transmission also teaches us how to perform clutch control without stalling or rolling on an incline. So how does an automatic car change gears?

There are more parts in this system that makes it a more complicated system. An automatic car has something called a torque converter. For the car to move forward, whether manual or automatic, torque is needed for the initial momentum.

The torque converter is a fluid link where its job is to connect the engine to the transmission and the transmission to the driven wheels (Front Wheel Drive or Rear Wheel Drive).

The engine is connected to the transmission in a bell housing. This is where the torque converter is. The transmission also contains something called planetary gear sets which provide different gear ratios.

The engine’s flex plate is also connected to this torque converter. So the torque converter basically takes the place of a clutch in an automatic car. When the crankshaft rotates it also rotates the converter. This is how the torque converter will disconnect and connect the engine’s power to the load being driven.

The torque converter has main components that make automatic transmission successful. These include:

  • The impeller – connected to the engine which is responsible for driving the turbine using viscous forces on the transmission fluid.
  • The turbine – connected to the transmission input shaft that sends the torque force to the transmission.
  • The stator – which sits between the impeller and the turbine. It lessens churning losses.
    The lock up clutch.

During the compression of the fluid it returns from the turbine that works against the impeller and its rotating movement that also acts on the engine.

The stator redirects the fluid so that the majority of the velocity gets driven towards the impeller which then adds to the torque produced by the motor. It can only rotate in one direction if the impeller and turbine are moving at the same speed. Stators do not apply torque when on a highway, only when coming to a stop or accelerating.

A planetary gear set consists of a sun gear and planet gears which rotate around the central sun gear, like our solar system. A planet carrier gear connects the planet gears with a ring gear that meshes them. The planetary gear set prevents certain components from moving when using clutches and brakes. This alters the input and the output of the system that changes the overall gear ratio.

Depending on which component is fixed it will determine the final gear ratio. If a ring gear is stationery or fixed, the ratio will be shorter than if the sun gear is fixed or stationery.

Brakes Noises Solutions

There will come a time whilst you are driving that you will have problems with your brakes. You might not notice it immediately but once you start to hear the noises, know that there is something wrong.

First thing’s first. Slowly pull over to the side of the road as soon as you start to hear these noises. Make sure that you keep a good distance from the road in case you have a flat tyre instead and need to change it.

These are the different noises your brakes make that you should be fully aware of:

Grinding – grinding is usually the sound of two metal pieces rubbing together. So know that this means that you have a severely damaged brake pad. Without a brake pad, there is nothing that is stopping you safely. It is recommended that you do not continue to drive as it could prevent you from stopping at a traffic light.

Knocking from the rear – this constant annoying sound you hear when applying brakes indicates that there is a problem with the rear drums. There could be a possibility that the brake or rear drum has been resurfaced which is causing that knocking sound. Fixing this problem can be done by yourself but it would be wise to get a technician to fix it.

Squeaking – this is a sign that wear has been done to the brakes. If not fixed it could be dangerous to you. The squeaking sound is usually caused by a wear indicator. This lets the driver know that wear is being detected. Make sure that you get the brakes replaced immediately. You can still drive a good distance before being in danger but make sure that they get replaced soon.

If you are aware of the problem whilst you are driving and know that the problem is dangerous to you and other drivers make sure that you switch your hazard lights on and drive slowly and calmly. If your brakes don’t work at all, release the accelerator and slowly move into the side lane. With the car losing momentum you will eventually come to a stop. Engine braking will also assist the car to slow down. Engine braking is achieved by gearing down.

When you are close to coming to a stop, pull up the hand brake slowly so that your wheels don’t lock up thus making you swerve around dangerously.

The Mercedes Tuning – What Are The Reasons To Tune Your Vehicle?

We are very well aware of the shooting fuel prices in the market. Hence, it is crucial to tune your Mercedes, so that it delivers great mpg. There are many reasons of the Mercedes tuning like better acceleration, enhanced torque, great economy, more power, healthier engine etc.

We have seen rapid growth in the technology in the field of automobiles. The super chip tuning technology is developed especially for the premium cars like Mercedes. The tuning is efficient for both the petrol and diesel version of car. It will ensure that your car gives best performance without any hassle.

Importance of tuning

Once the vehicle is tuned, it will reduce the emission and improve the performance by 15%. It is quite obvious that tuning will help your vehicle in multiple ways. However, you must tune the vehicle timely to avoid any inconvenience. The experts recommend visiting to the mechanic once in three months. The professionals will make sure that none of the part needs repairing.

As the fuel prices have increased, so does the dependency on vehicles. It is crucial to keep your car in good shape. If you maintain the car properly, then the car will run efficiently for long years without any hassle. Else, it would require regular repairing that will ultimately lead to lower mpg and reduce the performance.

What to consider while tuning the exhaust system?

The exhaust system of the Mercedes includes a front pipe, exhaust manifold, catalyst converter, silencer, exhaust tip and tail pipe. While tuning the system, muffler is the easiest to deal. The professionals will replace the stock muffler with high performance muffler.

As a result, you will get a free flow exhaust system. You must keep in mind that the inlet and outlet pipe of the muffler is of the same size as front and tail pipe. Check out the diameter of tail and front pipe. They must have same dimensions for better performance. Other terms of the exhaust system is a little complicated to understand. You must have knowledge of the engine’s power band, exhaust back pressure and usable RPM.

If excessive pressure is produced by the system, then it will have a negative impact on the performance of the engine. This will restrict the flow of exhaust gases. As a result, the engine will be inefficient to expel exhaust gases. Ultimately, it would lead to much reduced engine power.

Dos and the don’ts

Make sure that you never attach pea-shooter instead of the exhaust system to the engine. You must also not install a 10 inch wastewater pipe. In case the exhaust pipe is big enough, then it will lead to much reduced flow velocity of the gases. You have to keep in mind to get the exhaust back pressure perfect.

While tuning the exhaust system, the professionals aim to increase the power of the engine by the right exhaust tuning.
